The Precinct: Rare Vehicle Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

In The Precinct, there are 10 Rare Vehicles hidden throughout Averno City — split evenly, 5 in Western Averno and 5 in Eastern Averno.

Finding and driving each of these unique variants unlocks the Hidden in the Hood trophy.

These same 10 vehicles also count toward We'll Pay for the Damage, the separate trophy for commandeering every distinct vehicle type in the game — meaning a single dedicated hunt makes progress on both simultaneously.

What Makes These Vehicles "Rare"

Unlike the standard police cruiser, Rare Vehicles are civilian cars with custom paint jobs and improved performance — several, like the Gran Detroit Turbo, are noticeably faster than the starter squad car.

They are always found hidden in alleys or behind buildings, typically sheltered under a ramshackle metal carport or sheet metal roof.

Unlocking the Commandeer Skill

Before hunting for any Rare Vehicle, the Commandeer skill must be unlocked in the far-right branch of the talent tree, costing 2 upgrade points.

Without this skill, Officer Cordell cannot enter civilian vehicles at all — it's one of the first skills available in that branch and typically unlocks within a night or two of regular patrols.

Three Tips Before Starting the Hunt

Set the shift length to Maximum in the pre-shift menu before starting a dedicated hunt — this provides ample time to drive across all of Averno City without the workday ending mid-search.

Look specifically for corrugated metal propped up on four poles in an alley. This makeshift carport is the single most reliable visual tell — if one is spotted, a Rare Vehicle is almost always parked beneath it.

While not required for Hidden in the Hood, the Police Chief's Vehicle, a bright orange car parked behind the precinct in a small three-spot lot (alongside Detective and Watch Commander spaces), can also be commandeered for a unique ride and counts toward We'll Pay for the Damage.

Note this is separate from the Career Limiting Move trophy, which requires physically parking a vehicle in the Chief's designated spot rather than simply driving his car.

Rare Vehicles Don't Save to the Garage

Rare Vehicles cannot be kept permanently — leaving one behind or ending a shift causes it to respawn back at its original location, fully repaired, ready to be found and driven again on a future patrol.

Every location, including all five in each half of the city, is included on our complete The Precinct interactive game map.
